Admission to the Graduate Program

Thank you for your interest in our program. We feel that we offer a strong academic experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and our enthusiastic, student-centered faculty care about your success. Please review the following information regarding admission to our programs. If you still have questions please contact one of our advisors.

Admission to the program is selective with only one in eight applicants accepted each year. The program ranks among the top 10 departments in the state based on minority enrollment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework
  • GRE is required, no minimum score
  • Two letters of recommendation are required for the M.S. in Speech Pathology and three letters of recommendation are required for the Au.D.
  • Student profile

NOTE: For speech pathology applicants, the Graduate Admissions Committee will consider only those applicants who have grades for at least 25 hours of coursework in communication sciences and disorders (speech-language pathology and audiology). Additional deficiency coursework will be required once admitted to the program. Additional information regarding this topic may be obtained by contacting the departmental advisers.

Applicants for the AuD must complete the following courses or the equivalents prior to starting in the fall: CSD 349 Hearing Science, CSD 350 Audiology, CSD 351 Aural Rehabilitation. All three of these courses will be offered in the summer session at Illinois State.

Deadline

All application materials must be received by January 15 to be considered for fall term. All application materials must be received by September 1 to be considered for spring term.
