Admission Requirements

Freshman

Illinois State seeks a highly motivated, academically well-prepared, and diverse student body. We value individualized attention for each and every student and guarantee that your application will be reviewed carefully by admissions representatives. External Transfer students

Students transferring from other institutions will be considered for admission to the speech pathology and audiology major if they have a 2.50 Cumulative GPA for all college work attempted. For additional information, please visit the Transfer Student Web site.

Internal Transfer students (if you are already an Illinois State University student)

The grade point average range of accepted students is typically 3.20 to 3.72. Internal transfers are also required to fill out an application and complete an essay; Applications for admission into the major will be reviewed between September 1 and October 1 and between February 1 and March 1. A completed application with essay should be turned into the Department Office in Fairchild Hall room 204. Students will be contacted within two weeks from the last date of the application period regarding their admission status. Applications will be kept for two consecutive semesters from the date of application.

Students should indicate on the application their preferred major sequence by using the following major/minor codes:

  • Speech Pathology: 6202
  • Audiology: 6201
  • Minor in Speech Pathology & Audiology: 6200
