Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Academic Advisement

Undergraduates with fewer than 24 semester hours and all general students are assigned to University College Academic Advisement for advisement purposes. However, students who are interested in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders may also seek the assistance of the departmental advisor.

All Communication Sciences and Disorders majors with 30 or more hours receive advisement from the departmental advisor, Heidi Verticchio, who has sign-up sheets for appointments are posted on her office door. Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor whenever they have questions.

Standards for progress in the major (for all students)

In order to remain in the major, students must attain a 3.0 grade point average in the following 3 courses:  CSD 155, CSD 175, and CSD 310. An average grade below 3.0 in these courses will result in the student being dropped from the CSD major. Any student who falls into this category will be advised of this during a meeting with the department advisor and will be advised that to be reinstated into the CSD major, students will need to re-enroll in the above 3 courses until a B average is obtained.
